Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export to South American countries at $540/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, the same reference over the last two weeks, a local market source told SteelOrbis.
The source mentioned a downward trend remaining for the prices over the next weeks, but not to a large extent, as prices remain under pressure by production costs, chiefly energy.
In May, Brazil exported 49,800 mt of rebar, the highest monthly volume since January 2019. The shipments were all destined to South American countries, in average at $528/mt, FOB conditions, with different quality grades and price deals probably closed in March.
