Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export to South American countries in a price range of $550/mt to $560/mt, against $540/mt to $560/mt last week, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade.

In March, ArcelorMittal exported 18,300 mt of rebar at $599/mt, while Gerdau exported 21,500 mt at $490/mt, both FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in January, destined mostly to South American countries.

A local source indicated expectations for higher rebar export prices in the short term, quoting different factors such as higher production costs, chiefly energy and scrap, along with a current uptrend for most steel prices.
