Brazilian producers are reportedly negotiating wire rod of the mesh grade for export to Latin American countries in a FOB price range of $545/mt to $555/mt, against $550/mt to $560/mt last week, a local market source told SteelOrbis.

According to the source, the Brazilian wire rod producers, ArcelorMittal and Gerdau, are having difficulties in maintaining sales to other South American countries, with few such deals being closed in the recent weeks, except for those sales to associated companies in the region, with prices not necessarily linked to market conditions.

The main problem relates to reduced demand from most industrial sectors in region, the source added.

In March, the destinations of the Brazilian wire rod were Asia (6,400mt), South America (2,000mt at $598/mt) and Canada (1,300mt).
