Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export to South American countries at $540/mt, against a range $540/mt to $550/mt over the last few weeks, both FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, a local market source told SteelOrbis.

The source mentioned that there is a price downward trend expected for the coming weeks, but not to a large extent, as prices are under pressure by production costs, chiefly energy.

In May, Brazil exported 49,800 mt of rebar, against 37,300 mt in April. The shipments were all destined to South American countries, in average at $528/mt, FOB conditions, with different quality grades and price deals probably closed in March.
