Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export to South American countries in a price range of $540/mt to $550/mt, against a range of $550/mt to $560/mt last week, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade.

Regardless of the price reduction, a local source said that he maintains expectations for higher export prices in the short term, quoting different factors such as higher production costs, chiefly energy and scrap, along with a current uptrend for most steel prices.

In April, Gerdau exported 21,800 mt of rebar at $479/mt, while ArcelorMittal exported 15,500 mt at $598/mt, both FOB conditions, with different quality grades and price deals probably closed in February. All were destined to South American countries.
