Brazilian producers are reportedly negotiating rebar for export to South American countries in a price range of $570/mt to $580/mt, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade. The price compares with a range of $580/mt to $590/mt FOB reported last week, a local market source mentioned to SteelOrbis.

According to the source, there is a level of uncertainty regarding the prices, as part of the export deals are closed among companies of the same group, with prices not necessarily linked to market conditions.

In December, Gerdau exported 23,800 mt of rebar, in average at $550/mt, while ArcelorMittal exported 15,300 mt at $606/mt, both FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in October. All rebar exports from Brazil in December were destined to South American countries.
