In the Polish rebar market, demand has remained high and stocks have been limited over the past two weeks and, accordingly, rebar prices have increased in the country. Mills’ offers have risen by PLN 100/mt (€22/mt) to PLN 4,000-4,150/mt (€884-917/mt) ex-works. Despite record high prices, buyers have continued to restock because they have been worried about the limited material availability in the market. Producers are offering for July now, but both local and import sources have limited allocations. The market outlook has remained positive, while most market players believe they will see even higher prices in the Polish rebar market before the summer holidays.
"Price increases have already been accepted and everybody wants to make their stock levels secure because end-users still have demand. Import volumes are also limited and it is not easy to restock. Nobody wants to miss the opportunities to increase their sales in this high season. We have almost a month until the holiday season, but we believe the market will also be strong in the autumn. In this situation, market players are not hesitating to buy material, even if prices are at record high levels,"a trader told SteelOrbis.
On the import side, prices have continued to increase and allocations have remained limited over the past two weeks. As long as the demand in the local European markets stays strong, allocations will be limited for export destinations, according to market sources. During the past two weeks, ex-Moldova deals have been heard in the market at €830/mt CPT for July deliveries, increasing by €50/mt over the last two weeks. Offers from Germany have been heard at €880/mt CPT, also for July deliveries, SteelOrbis has learned.
Prices exclude 23 percent VAT.
