Domestic rebar demand in Poland has declined following the previous short-lived upturn. Moreover, buyers have managed to obtain discounts as a result of negotiations. Over the past two weeks, prices have declined by PLN 100/mt (€22/mt) to PLN 2,800-2,900/mt (€612-634/mt) ex-works.

Most buyers have renewed their stocks at these price levels and demand has declined after the sales. In the meantime, producers are eager to increase their prices, but end-users still show some resistance. "We understand that producers want to increase their prices following some sales and also due to the uptrend in scrap. But end-users are pessimistic about the current price trend. They insist on lower prices and they buy only for their urgent needs. This situation causes trouble for traders and we have to be very careful about buying activity," one trader told SteelOrbis.

Import rebar prices have also declined by €10-15/mt during negotiations in the last two weeks. The latest offers from Moldova have been heard as €620-635/mt CPT, while suppliers from Russia and Ukraine have been standing at €600-610/mt CPT, SteelOrbis has learned.

Prices exclude 23 percent VAT.
