Nucor-Yamato strikes back at competition with a $40/nt WFB decrease

After dropping transaction prices by $30/nt ($1.50 cwt. or $33/mt) last week in response to a downtrend in shredded scrap prices, Nucor-Yamato announced Wednesday that effective immediately, transaction prices for wide flange beams (WFB) will drop another $40/nt ($2.00 cwt. or $44/mt) "to better align with our domestic competitor's unpublished discounts and Weekly Stock Specials."

While it is not clear which competitor Nucor is speaking of, Steel Dynamics Inc. issued a new price list for WFB on Wednesday that matches Nucor-Yamato's new WFB prices.
