Nucor sent a letter to customers late Monday indicating that as of Dec. 1, 2015 the published prices for merchant bar and structural products will decrease by $70/nt ($3.50 cwt. or $77/mt). The company said the adjustment is being made “to better align our published price list with market transaction pricing influenced by both foreign and domestic competition.”

Additionally, Nucor said that as a result of the decrease, “all allowances previously offered by Nucor to address our competitors’ unpublished discounts, rebate programs and foreign fighter programs are immediately discontinued.”

Other domestic mills are expected to follow suit.
