In the past two weeks, the price of domestic Mexican rebar fell US$5/mt to reach US$660/mt ex-mill.
The price behavior of rebar has continued to follow slight variations, with the hope that the forecasts from official and construction sector sources continue to trend upward.
Construction in Mexico declined 7.3 percent in the third quarter of 2013, although the pace of the contraction slowed to 5.4 percent in the fourth quarter and 3.3 percent in the first quarter of this year.
"It seems that the worst is behind us and from the second half of this year we will begin to see positive growth in that area, also favored by a depressed base of comparison," sources said.
