As the demand environment for US import rebar remains weak, buyers are finding fewer options available although lower prices have been heard. A lack of orders has rendered offers from Bulgaria, Portugal, and Algeria irrelevant, and offers from Spain, Turkey, and Mexico are reportedly soft.
US import rebar offers from Spain are now ranging from $28.50-$29.50 cwt. ($628-$650/mt or $570-$590/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports, reflecting a drop of $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) in the last week. Offers from Mexico are closer to $29.00-$29.50 cwt. ($639-$650/mt or $580-$590/nt) DDP Houston.
As for US import rebar offers from Turkey, sources tell SteelOrbis that while general interest has picked up, buyers are wary about the uncertainty of the US-Turkey relationship, with one source noting, “you never know when the tariffs on Turkey will go up or down on a whim.” As such, offers are stable in the last-heard range of $29.00-$30.00 cwt. ($639-$661/mt or $580-$600/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports.
