CIS billet offers to Turkey have been negatively impacting price levels in the Turkish billet market, with local and export billet offers in Turkey softening by $5/mt week on week and now standing at $520-530/mt ex-works and $515-525/mt FOB respectively. The low-priced CIS billet export offers have left little opportunity for competitors in the global markets, and so ex-Turkey billet offers have failed to attract interest. Market sources do not believe billet prices in the global markets will register any increases, at least for now, considering the ongoing declining trend of scrap prices.
