Turkish domestic wire rod prices have risen by $10-55/mt to $670-710/mt ex-works over the past week against the backdrop of the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment and currency fluctuations. Most Turkish mills are offering mainly for September delivery, while a limited tonnage is available from stocks or for late August delivery depending on the size and quality.

One Iskenderun-based mill increased its wire rod price by $15/mt to $660/mt ex-works yesterday and increased its prices by another $40/mt to $700/mt ex-works today, August 9. “The main reason for such a sharp price increase is the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment,” one source mentioned.
