Local wire rod prices in the region of Thrace in Turkey have remained unchanged over the past week, while prices have increased by $5/mt on the lower end in the Iskenderun region and risen by $5 on the higher end in the Izmir region. In addition, wire rod prices in the Marmara region have increased by $10/mt today, April 14, due to the extended delivery. The main reason for the price adjustments are the ongoing currency fluctuations. In addition, the silence in the import scrap segment due to the high number of offers and the sluggish demand during Ramadan constitute the backdrop for the local wire rod market at present. Most Turkish mills are offering for late May-June production. However, small-tonnage orders are also available from stocks.
