Today, January 27, local Turkish wire rod mills have cut their prices by an average $15-22.5/mt week on week amid weaker scrap prices and continuing currency fluctuations. Most buyers are in wait-and-see mode in order to gain a better understanding of the import scrap trend.

Most Turkish mills are offering wire rod for late March delivery. One Iskenderun-based mill has closed its wire rod sales for now. Sources report the producer is expected to start 10-15 days of maintenance works in February, though no specific dates have been confirmed by the time of publication. In the import segment, ex-Russia SAE 1006/1008 grade wire rod offers are available at $740/mt CFR Iskenderun for April shipment, SteelOrbis has heard.
