Turkey’s official domestic wire rod prices have decreased by $5-15/mt week on week amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment and relatively lower demand compared to the previous week. Most wire rod buyers are refraining from new purchases as they believe wire rod prices may decrease further. Sources report that special discounts are available for serious buyers and that buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts.

According to sources, one Iskenderun-based mill has stopped quoting wire rod prices and is expected to start its maintenance works by August. As a result, wire rod prices in the Iskenderun region may gain some momentum due to lack of supply in the short term. Most Turkish mills are offering for August deliveries.
