Demand in the local Turkish wire rod market increased last week under the influence of the import scrap deals concluded at higher prices. This increase in import scrap prices has pushed up Turkish mills’ production costs, causing domestic wire rod quotations to increase week on week. Market sources state that demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has decreased slightly after the new price levels seen as of the beginning of the current week, though Turkish mills state that they are happy with the current demand.
