SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers’ price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Thrace

535-545

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, exclude VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.

Demand in the local Turkish wire rod market is still at low levels. Buyers in the market have slowed down their purchases due to their expectations of a further decrease in domestic wire rod quotations as a result of lower scrap prices. This downward pressure has caused Turkish mills to reduce their domestic wire rod prices by an average of $10/mt week on week to $525-550/mt ex-works.

On the other hand, as European Union’s quota for wire rod imports from Turkey has already been filled up, Turkish mills are trying to meet the demand they have received from African markets, while they are facing serious competition in the region from Ukrainian producers.
