Today, May 10, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mainly decreased by TRY 100/mt ($15/mt) except in the Iskenderun region where rebar spot prices have remained stable in the local currency, while prices in Turkey overall are $9-10/mt over the day. The key reasons are the rapid currency fluctuations, sluggish demand and weaker scrap prices. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 14,800-15,100/mt or $822-839/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Icdas has kept its official rebar price at $870/mt ex-works today. Most mills in the Marmara region are offering official rebar prices at $860-870/mt ex-works. It is worth mentioning that a few mills are offering sizeable discounts in order to attract the interest of buyers amid the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar.
