The domestic rebar market in Turkey remains largely positive, following some sizeable sales closed over the past two weeks and the continuing uptrend in the import scrap segment. Along with the upward price adjustments by key rebar mills, local traders have also been targeting higher levels. Today, February 18, suppliers in the Marmara and Iskenderun regions have increased their prices by TRY 20/mt ($2/mt). Some sales were closed in the Iskenderun region at TRY 3,100/mt ($ 434/mt) ex-warehouse before the price increase.
Turkish mills’ prices are mainly set within TRY 3,160-3,215/mt ($442-450/mt) ex-works depending on the region, while some sales at TRY 3,180/mt ($445/mt) ex-works have been reported in the Marmara region today. In the meantime, some Iskenderun region-based mills have preferred to postpone their sales for now, most probably aiming to sell at higher levels later, SteelOrbis understands.
