Today, December 28, spot prices in the local Turkish rebar market have remained unchanged on lira basis, while increasing by $12/mt on US dollar basis due to currency fluctuations. As of today, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 5,600-5,700/mt or $638-649/mt ex-warehouse depending on the region.
Icdas has kept its rebar price stable in the local currency at TRY 5,650/mt ($644/mt) ex-works, while up by $12/mt in US dollars compared to the end of last week. Other mills in the Marmara region are currently offering rebar at TRY 5,705-5,795/mt ($650-660/mt) ex-works today.
Most Izmir-based mills are offering rebar at TRY 5,620/mt ($640/mt) ex-works.
Most local Turkish buyers are on hold for new purchases as they are not willing to restock approaching the year-end and also amid the strengthening of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. In addition, Yesilyurt A.S. has announced that it will not offer rebar until the beginning of February, which leads traders to believe that rebar prices will be firm at the beginning of 2021.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
