Today, August 6, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices in the local currency have increased by TRY 30-40/mt, while declining by $3-4/mt on US dollar basis, amid currency fluctuations. Some local traders believe that rebar spot prices may gain momentum by next week after the high volume of rebar sales in the local market following the aggressive pricing policies of producers this week. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are now at TRY 6,930-7,050/mt or $681-693/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.
Most Marmara-based mills, including Icdas, have kept their official rebar prices, at $710/mt ex-works, and the general rebar price range in the region is at $710-715/mt ex-works.
One Izmir-based mill is currently offering rebar at $690/mt ex-works, while Izmir Demir Celik(IDC) has closed its rebar sales for now. Sources report that around 20,000 mt of rebar were traded in the Izmir region at around $683-684/mt ex-works yesterday.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt Metallurgy has closed its rebar sales until Monday, August 9.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
