Local Turkish rebar spot prices increase to offset the currency fluctuations

Today, September 28, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 80-110/mt with minor changes in US dollar basis to offset currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar prices in the overall local Turkish spot market have settled at TRY 4,130-4,180/mt ($448-454/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region.                     

Today, İçdaş has increased its official rebar price in the local currency by TRY 140/mt to TRY 4,230/mt ($459/mt) ex-works, with its dollar-based price down $2/mt on the same day from $461/mt ex-works this morning.

One İzmir-based mill is offering rebar at TRY 4,195/mt ($455/mt) ex-works.

In Iskenderun, Baştuğ Metalürji has opened its rebar sales at TRY 4,220/mt ($458/mt) ex-works.

In Karabuk, Yolbulan has opened its rebar sales at TRY 4,180/mt ($454/mt) ex-works, up TRY 100/mt, stable in US dollar basis today.

In Samsun, Yeşilyurt A.Ş. has also raised its rebar prices, by TRY 80/mt, down by $3/mt in US dollar basis to TRY 4,230/mt ($459/mt) ex-works.

Most buyers are in a wait and see stance for now.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 18 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
