Local Turkish rebar spot prices increase in local currency

Today, January 26, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by another TRY 50-100/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis, as compared to beginning of this week, against the backdrop of rapid currency fluctuations and relatively tight rebar supply due to the impact of the energy restrictions in the country. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 10,950-11,300/mt or $685-707/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region.

Turkish mills’ general rebar price range is still at $700-710/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S. Most Turkish mills have either stopped their steel plants or are working in shorter shifts to overcome the current energy restrictions. In addition, one Marmara-based mill has already stopped rolling for 10 days, while another in the region has stopped its steel plant for five days for now due to the power cuts, SteelOrbis has heard. Some local traders are refraining from restocking in order to gain a better understanding of the import scrap segment, while some of them are handling daily needs only.

As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
