Local Turkish rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 20-50/mt depending on the region today, February 17, amid stronger scrap prices. In the meantime, domestic rebar buyers are taking their time to reveal their reaction to the new offers. According to market sources, some mills in the Iskenderun region have closed their rebar sales until February 20. However, Bastug Metalurji has returned to the market today with offers for 12-32 mm rebar at TRY 3,130/mt ($430/mt) ex-works.
Today, February 17, Icdas has increased its official rebar price by TRY 70/mt to TRY 3,180/mt ex-works, while Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has set its offer at the same level, hiking it by TRY 80/mt over the past week. As a result, on the US dollar basis the producers’ prices have increased by $10/mt and $12/mt respectively to $446/mt ex-works.
