As a result of the slight appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, domestic rebar prices in Turkey’s Izmir and Marmara regions, which were already on the high side, have decreased today, April 29, by TRY 9-17/mt. Meanwhile, prices in Turkey’s Karabuk and Iskenderun regions have moved sideways today as they were considered to be on the low side. Turkish rebar traders’ domestic offers are currently in the range of TRY 3,300-3,380/mt ex-warehouse, including 18 percent VAT. Market sources state that demand in the local Turkish rebar market is still weak against the backdrop of today’s exchange rate movements. Additionally, although sellers are anticipating new sales ahead of Ramadan, buyers are forced to adopt a cautious stance due to the exchange rate.
Today, Turkish mill Icdas has decreased its 12-32 mm rebar prices by TRY 20/mt to TRY 2,860/mt ($481/mt) ex-works, while Izmir Demir Celik has reduced its 12-32 mm rebar prices by TRY 25/mt to TRY 2,856/mt ($481/mt) ex-works, both excluding VAT.
As of today, April 29, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
