Over the past week, local Turkish official dollar-based merchant bar prices have mostly fallen by $15-30/mt amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments and also amid currency fluctuations. One İskenderun-based mill cut its official merchant bar price by $20/mt to $770/mt ex-works over the same period.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering for April delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at $920-940/mt ex-works, falling by $20/mt, SteelOrbis has heard. The general sentiment in demand is negative due to Ramadan and most local buyers are taking their time and will continue to monitor import scrap and billet prices until they believe local prices have hit the bottom.
