In the last two weeks, local Turkish merchant bar list prices have been cut by TRY 90-215/mt ($4-21/mt) in the local currency amid weaker scrap prices, currency fluctuations and sluggish demand resulting from adverse weather conditions.
Most buyers are refraining from new purchases as they believe merchant bar prices may decrease further due to the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segment.
A few re-rollers are today offering HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at around $780-800/mt ex-works, excluding Kardemir, down by an average of $12.5/mt over the same period, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most re-rollers are still offering for end of March-April delivery, while a few re-rollers are continuing to offer some sizes from stocks.
