Local Turkish merchant bar prices soften

Demand in the local Turkish merchant bar market has continued to be characterized by sluggishness over the past two weeks, as buyers have continued to conclude deals only to meet their immediate needs. Besides the weakness of demand, the rapid declines seen in global scrap prices as of the start of the third week of January have also contributed to the soft trend of domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey, which have declined by TRY 45-85/mt as compared to the price levels recorded on January 20.
