As of today, July 5, Turkish domestic merchant bar prices have increased by TRY 535-1,515 ($18-78/mt) compared to a week ago. The exchange rate was at $1 = TRY 16.66 on Tuesday, June 28. Turkish merchant bar producers have increased their local prices against the backdrop of the positive sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments, specifically the ex-Russian billet segment.
Most merchant bar buyers are offering for late July-August delivery and only limited tonnages are available from stocks. Sources report that official HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) prices have remained unchanged at $1,050-1,080/mt ex-works over the past week.
