Local Turkish merchant bar prices have increased by TRY 100-130/mt over the past two weeks, supported by stronger scrap and billet prices and improving long steel demand.Offers in the Iskenderun region have increased by larger margins compared to other parts of the country due to livelier demand. “I believe merchant bar buyers do not have high inventory levels in Iskenderun due to the lack of supply, and most probably traders have already sold out some lots,” one source mentioned. In all other regions, demand for merchant bars in Turkey is relatively moderate. Purchases are being made on a daily basis. “Buyers might become more active by July,” another source said.
