Local Turkish merchant bar prices have followed diverse trends over the past week. Domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey’s Denizli and Izmir regions have moved down by TRY 60/mt week due to sluggish demand as well as the appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar. On the other hand, merchant bar prices in Karabuk have moved up by TRY 50/mt on the upper end, while prices in Iskenderun have increased by an average of TRY 40/mt due to moderate demand.
Meanwhile, domestic angle prices in Turkey are currently at TRY 2,580-2,750/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT. Market sources state that merchant bar producers are offering discounts of TRY 20-40/mt for serious buyers in a few regions. The prices below are for cash payment.
