Local Turkish merchant bar prices fall sharply

Prices in the local Turkish merchant bar market have started this week with a sharp downward movement due to the weakness of demand, the decline in import scrap prices, and since Turkish mills’ export sales have not been performing so well. In this context, Turkish mills’ domestic merchant bar offers have moved down by TRY 140/mt as compared to prices in SteelOrbis’ report published on June 17 to TRY 2,820-3,080/mt ($485-530/mt) ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT.
