Local Turkish merchant bar prices have followed diverse trends over the past two weeks. Domestic merchant bar prices in Turkey’s Denizli and Izmir regions have moved up by TRY 45/mt in the given period due to firm import prices and strong local billet prices. On the other hand, merchant bar prices in Karabuk and Iskenderun have moved down TRY 30-65/mt in the same period due to sluggish demand in these regions. Additionally, SteelOrbis heard that one Turkish merchant bar producer bought approximately 9,000-10,000 mt of merchant bar from a fellow Turkish producer last week to complete its inventories since it expects prices to increase further in the coming period.
Meanwhile, domestic angle prices in Turkey are currently at TRY 2,550-2,780/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT. Market sources state that merchant bar producers are offering discounts of TRY 30-50/mt for serious buyers in a few local regions. The prices below are given for cash payment.
