Prices in the local Turkish merchant bar market have decreased during the past week, due to lower scrap quotations and the weakness of demand. Accordingly, Turkish mills’ angle prices have fallen by TRY 60/mt as compared to Monday, July 8, to 2,800-3,040/mt ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT.
Turkish merchant bar producers will shape their future price strategy depending on the trends of import scrap, ex-CIS billet and domestic billet quotations. Still, buyers are expected to continue exerting pressure on domestic merchant bar prices.
