Billet buyers in Turkey have remained active in their purchases, in the Iskenderun region specifically. Moreover, the local suppliers have managed to increase their deal prices further with the support of the new price rise in the scrap segment, the positive rebar market, and the somewhat limited billet allocation seen in the market nowadays.

According to sources, at the end of last week a producer in the Iskenderun region sold a total of 12,000 mt at $592/mt ex-works, while the offer range has been set at $590-600/mt ex-works in general in Turkey. Another seller traded 10,000 mt at $595/mt ex-works in the same region, SteelOrbis has learned. “It seems all this [the uptrend] will continue for now and those who have billet for sale are the lucky ones,” a source said.
