No significant change has been seen in the local rebar market in Poland over the past two weeks either in terms of demand or pricing due to the Easter holiday. The official offers are at PLN 2,900-2,950/mt (€634-645/mt) ex-works for April. However, market players are mostly optimistic about the future price trend, taking into account that demand has already started to pick up slowly and many producers have voiced targets to increase offers to PLN 3,000/mt (€656/mt) ex-works for May production.
Overall, demand was expected to increase more compared to the current situation, but the unfavorable weather conditions across the country have affected business activity in a negative way. Producers have already sold most of their April production and targeted higher price levels for May. Buyers have also accepted the idea of higher prices because of higher raw material prices and they have already started to buy to renew their stocks before prices rise."Steel prices are strong around the world and raw material prices are again on the rise. End-users demand has already begun to pick up before Easter and we are sure that we will see better demand conditions soon. We believe we will see better demand in the coming period with the better weather conditions," a trader told SteelOrbis.
On the import side, prices have also remained stable but discounts up to €10-20/mt are possible depending on order volumes. Offers from Moldova have been heard at €600-615/mt CPT, while suppliers from Russia and Ukraine have been offering at €590-600/mt CPT, the same as earlier in March, SteelOrbis has learned.
Prices exclude 23 percent VAT.
