Turkish domestic merchant bar list prices have increased by TRY 75/mt in the local currency in the Iskenderun region, while they have fallen by TRY 50/mt in the Karabuk region. Local merchant bar prices have remained unchanged on lira basis both in the Izmir and Denizli regions, with minor changes on US dollar basis over the last two weeks. Sources report special discounts are applicable for serious buyers as demand is sluggish for now. “Some buyers are awaiting a price correction due to the currency fluctuations. However, import scrap prices are strong,” one source stated.
A few re-rollers are today offering HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at around $800-805/mt ex-works, excluding Kardemir, up by $20/mt on the lower end, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most re-rollers are offering for end of March-early April delivery, while a few re-rollers are continuing to offer some sizes from stocks.
