During the week ending February 13, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have mostly followed a stable trend, while transaction activity in the market has been at low levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
In the past week, domestic semi-finished steel prices in China mostly moved sideways, with only slight downticks seen in the Tangshan market at the start of the given week. Most traders and downstream buyers are already on holiday and so overall trading activity is at very low levels. As for the coming week, domestic semi-finished steel prices will maintain a stable trend, while prices and trading activity are expected to increase after the holiday.
