During the given week, though the demand for semi-finished steel in China has been at decent levels, the downtrend of ferrous metal futures prices on September 17-20 continued to exert an obvious impact on semi-finished steel prices. Since the period of production restrictions is approaching, steelmakers have started to reduce their purchases of semi-finished steel. However, semi-finished steel output will also be negatively affected due to the approaching National Day holiday, which will bolster prices. It is thought that semi-finished steel prices in the Chinese domestic market will edge up slightly in the coming week.
