During the week ending July 30, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have moved on a downward trend, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, semi-finished steel prices in China have declined as demand has slackened amid the current hot weather conditions. Meanwhile, inventories in the semi-finished steel market are at low levels, which will bolster semi-finished steel prices to some extent. It is expected that semi-finished steel prices in the Chinese domestic market will fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
