Local Bulgarian rebar and wire rod prices have increased by BGN 30-70/mt (€15-36/mt) depending on the product, while local beam prices have skyrocketed over the past month. The main reason is the higher production cost, which most European mills are facing nowadays. However, merchant bar offers in Bulgaria have dropped by BGN 40/mt (€20/mt), mainly due to the lack of demand.
In the meantime, most buyers in Bulgaria are in wait-and-see mode, given the unclear economic and financial situation in the EU, which has been affecting end-user demand and consumption.
Most Turkish mills are attempting to raise their export offers by the beginning of next week, though Bulgarian buyers are also taking their time to restock material and are monitoring the import scrap price trend in Turkey.
