With the Turkish lira losing strength against the US dollar today, March 28, domestic rebar prices in Turkey have moved up. Accordingly, spot rebar prices in Turkey have increased by TRY 59/mt compared to yesterday to TRY 2,780-2,822/mt ex-warehouse, excluding 18 percent VAT. Market sources state that demand still exists in the local Turkish rebar market as buyers are concluding purchases to meet their remaining needs at the end of the month and also due to buyers’ prediction of a further depreciation of the Turkish lira after the local elections to be held on Sunday, March 31.
On the other hand, Turkish steel mill Icdas has announced its domestic 12-32 mm rebar sales prices today at TRY 2,759/mt ($494/mt) ex-works. Additionally, another Turkish rebar producer Izmir Demir Celik has announced its new 12-32 mm rebar sales prices today at TRY 2,797/mt ($500/mt) ex-works. All prices exclude 18 percent VAT.
