Due to the ongoing economic problems in the sectors directly associated with the steel market, particularly the construction sector, demand in the local Turkish merchant bar market has remained at low levels over the past two weeks. It is observed that buyers are usually avoiding purchases. Meanwhile, the falling trend of domestic merchant bar prices has been limited in the given period by the depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar, despite the decreases recorded in import scrap quotations in Turkey.
