Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir has closed its 150 mm x 150 mm billet sales in its local market. It had opened the sales on March 26. The producer has sold 8,800 mt at the price of TRY 2,345/mt ($361/mt) ex-works for S235JR and at TRY 2,375/mt ($366/mt) ex-work for A-III at today’s currency rate. Market sources report that Kardemir’s sales volume was lower than usual as it needs to produce to meet previous orders and also due to the fact that a lot of billet buyers in the region have decreased their rebar and merchant bar production. “These are the purchases of the buyers who guaranteed some volume to Kardemir within the first quarter,” a trader told SteelOrbis.

In addition, Kardemir has also closed its rebar sales that it had also announced March 26, at TRY 2,543/mt ex-works or at $392/mt ex-works. No deals were reported by Kardemir within this sales round.

Prices exclude 18 percent VAT.
