Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices stabilize for now

Turkish merchant bar producers have been aiming to keep their export offers unchanged, taking into account low business activity ahead of the holidays. However, at the end of July prices are expected to be revised according to the billet and scrap price trends, for which expectations are downward to relatively stable for now.

Turkish equal angle export prices are currently available at $770-800/mt FOB. According to sources, a few re-rollers are testing slightly below $770/mt FOB for October shipments. Other mills are mainly offering merchant bars for September shipments.
