Turkish merchant bar export prices have increased by 20/mt on the lower end to $720/mt FOB, versus $700-720/mt FOB two weeks ago, amid costlier scrap and higher billet prices. A few merchant bar suppliers have stopped quoting for now. According to sources, the number of inquiries for merchant bar exports from Turkey has risen over the same period, except for North Africa where buyers are not in a rush to conclude new purchases due their high stock levels.

“The local Turkish billet price has started testing $650/mt ex-works, which supports the upward trend of merchant bar export prices,” one source mentioned. Turkish suppliers are mostly offering material for December shipment, while only a limited tonnage is available for late October shipment, depending on the size and the product type.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Product

Price ($/mt)

Angle

720

IPN-UPN

730

Flat bar

750

IPE

730

All prices are on FOB basis and for December shipment.
