Ex-Turkey merchant bar export prices have increased by $50-55/mt since mid-December. Its equal angles are currently available at $710-725/mt FOB. Most merchant bar re-rollers in Turkey are offering for late March and April shipments, while a few re-rollers are already negotiating for extended delivery terms.

Turkey has utilized 23 percent and 78 percent of the EU quotas opened in January for big-size beams (80 mm and above) and various other merchant bars, respectively. The quotas are expected to be filled in the short term. Accordingly, Turkish merchant bar re-rollers are evaluating ex-EU inquiries for the second quota period which starts on April 1.

Turkish re-rollers are receiving inquiries from the European Union (EU), Latin America and West Africa. “North African re-rollers are offering aggressive prices to their local market these days. As a result, buyers in North Africa are refraining from making new purchases from Turkey.
