Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices have moved up by $15/mt on the lower end over the past two weeks, reaching $465-475/mt FOB for equal angles. The key factor is the uptrend in the billet segment and the so far sustainable import scap levels.
Some buyers have been ready to accept $460/mt FOB, SteelOrbis has learned. “It might be the workable price for now, but merchant bar re-rollers need to increase their offers due to the stronger billet and scrap prices,” one source mentioned. The Middle East and partly Europe are the main active markets for exports, while Latin America and the Far East are silent for now. In particular, offers to Romania are at €430-450 ($484-506/mt) CFR Constanta for July shipment, wıth no deals heard.
